Thursday, August 30, 2007 at 10:00 a.m - Book signing and brunch "Coffee, Tea, and Poetry" to be held at the
Startingline Resturant located at Industrial Drive and Sumpter Road, Belleville.

Sunday, September 16, 2007 at 1:00pm - Author talk and book signing at the
Southfield Public Library located on Evergreen in the Southfield Civic Centre.

Writing and Getting Published Seminar:

What you Need to be Successful in Writing

So you want to be a published writer? Writing your story can be worth hundreds of dollars--think of Harry Potter's author! Becoming a famous writer can be a reality. Noted author and poet, Michael Van Tull, will conduct a hands-on seminar that takes you from thought stage to the publishing stage. Mr. Van Tull will cover:

  1. How to get started
  2. What genre do I choose to write in
  3. How long will it take to get published
  4. And much more ...

Each seminar attendee will have the opportunity to submit their work for publication by Carstill Wagon Publishing. Publishing date will be Spring, 2008.

Cost is $49 and includes a
light lunch and
submission of up to 3 works for publication.

Submission Guidelines

The categories:

  • Personal Stories/Memoirs:
    2,000 word maximum
  • Short Story:
    3,000 word maximum
  • Inspirational Writing:
    2,000 word maximum
  • Poetry:
    32 lines maximum

A special category has been added: writers of comedy who want to improve presentation and performance skills before an audience.

Preparing your submission work(s):

All works should be original, unpublished and written in English. Submission should be typed on one side of 8 1/2" x 11" white paper, double-spaced. Poems may be single-spaced.

All package submissions should have a cover letter including your

  • name
  • address
  • phone
  • e-mail
  • categor(ies)

Note: Each submission will be published; with the exception of derogatory, hurtful, abusing, ethnic intimidation material.

Submission of works and reservations must be received by August 31, 2007.

Past Book Signings
This event was a big success with an overflowing crowd!
Testimonial: E. Taylor attended the book signing and said "great writing, gifted writer".

Marjean will debut her latest book, Walking Through the Watermelon Patch which is a book of poetry in a journal format taking the reader down many paths of life's emotional adventures. There will be books available for purchase.
