Serenity in the Watermelon Patch
I believe there is a place where I can sit quietly and
gather my thoughts, hash out my problems and come up with
a solution as to solving my dilemma.
A quiet space free of distractions, noise, talking, music—just
the peace of a solitude where fresh thoughts, ideas are borne,
plans made for the day, tomorrow.
These I believe can be accomplished in ones own space.
Such as the watermelon vine meanders along its secret path,
hiding its fruit to be found at a later date, so goes life’s
dreams, adventures, waiting for the right moment to display
itself.
Wait and you will find the answer to your problem, your
question. |

Peace Among the Waters
The dancing waters broke through the drone of the crowd.
Surrounding its environ with the mistiness of a cool summer
breeze.
Dancing waters soothing the minds,
People who sit and watch the water theatrics.
The sound of the fountains splashing lovingly over the
rocks,
Cascading into a waterfall.
How beautiful it is to listen to the peace that flows through
the air.
Winding its fingers among the trees and shrubbery.
Intermingled with soft lights shedding its sprinkle of “sunlight” into
the dawn’s early light.
How perfect is that which the Hands of God has made. |

Thank you Lord for Another Day
Thank you Lord for another day,
Another opportunity to do something to help my fellow man,
along the way.
I believe each one of us is born with a map, a destiny
of where our lives are to go; experiences that we are to
go through.
I believe that God gives us the answer to our situations
after a time of reflection.
Much as one puts down a word puzzle and picks it up at
another time, finding the elusive word that was hidden sometime
back..
Stepping back from a problem, taking time to reflect, analyze
the pros and cons of the situation makes for a solution that
was previously hidden from view.
As someone said, “Let go and let God” really
works! |

God, Let’s Have a Talk
God let’s have a talk
There seems to be a little problem that I can’t seem
to solve.
My heart works okay
My body works okay.
But my mind seems to be confused
Trouble seems to enter my life every other day.
It’s unrelenting.
My brain pumps but nothing seems to come out.
There is something to be said but nothing comes to my lips.
Tell me what can I do to remedy my situation?
There is a problem God, can you help me? |

Intentions
I stood on the bank waiting for my ship.
I did not wave my flag nor did I lift my hand as a signal.
I just stood on the bank waiting for my ship to come in.
Then I saw the ship shifting in the wind
On seas of blue and green
Coming closer, closer, passing me by.
O captain, oh captain why didn’t you pick me up?
“My child, you did not let me know of your intentions,
Therefore I did not stop.
When you raised your hand it was too late
For the dock had gone pass. No one was there.
Good intentions are great but must be acted upon
Before it’s too late.
Now I stand on the bank, toot my horn and wave my flag.
My ship shall not pass me by
My intentions are held high. |

Excerpts from "What Becomes of the Watermelon
Seeds (after the watermelon is gone)" (1997).
Let Me Be
Me
Let me be free to spread my wings to the sky,
Let me be free to touch life's breezes before
I die.
Let me be free to love you without bounds,
But most of all,
LET ME BE ME! |

"John" (a tribute to John
Lennon)
John, John with your own Yoko
filled the world
with understanding
and a little piece of happiness.
Light and free as a seagull with its
wings spread wide,
gliding on the breath of freedom.
John, John let your words flow beyond
the world of hate,
let them pierce the evilness and
destroy the wicked souls.
Let the love you gave seek its own
and wrap its arms
around the world.
John, John and your own special Yoko,
you gave so much and
received so little
in the end.
